So Much Pork from Pork in a Box

For those of you who follow me on IG, you'll know that the guys behind Pork in a Box contacted me a few weeks back asking if I'd review their food - and of course, I said YES. It is so difficult to hide my enthusiasm for this place and their dishes because I know the passion and research that goes on behind the scenes, and if you watch their Insta-stories enough you'll see it too. I told them to send me whatever they wanted me to try, and was very surprised to find two FULL boxes of their best pork belly and an additional 2 boxes of their porky snacks. Let's get to it.

I was obviously very happy to receive this much pork

The 1KG Oinkzilla (RM89) is probably the one to get if you're having this with several people who have different tastes. There are FOUR different kinds of pork belly, and each one of them is incredibly tasty. There's your classic siew yoke with crispy skin, salted to perfection; grilled bacon steak with some fantastic herbs and seasoning; slow-smoked pork belly to keep all that juiciness inside, and finally the succulent BBQ pork belly, which basically just melts in your mouth with all the fat rendered.

My personal recommendation is to get a bunch of sauces so you can mix & match to find your favourite, but the ones I really liked were Truffle Shuffle, Guinness BBQ & Whisky Mayo 😍 I will say that the more Western-style pork belly slices will taste better with these, while the siew yoke will obviously pair better with the more Asian-based sauces, like Chilli Garam or Mala Mayo, but to each your own!

Now, if you're having a little get together at your place – a little movie night, a little cocktail party – then the Snack Attack (RM45) is the one to get. This set truly has a little something for everyone, from some tangy nam yu (fermented bean) pork belly, to crispy hand-cut spam fries, and some deliciously seasoned, battered and deep-fried popcorn pork.
